Does Failure Mean You Cannot Be Successful?
By: Kaye Dennan

There mere fact that you have failed at something shows that you have initially come up with an idea, created the action, but not succeeded. If you can create an idea once, you can do it again. The next time though you will have hopefully learned where you went wrong in your planning and will be successful.

My hubby keeps telling me that even his mistakes are perfect!

ACCEPTING AND OVERCOMING FAILURE

When you start a home based business it is a given fact that you are going to make mistakes. If you understand this from the start, then you can look at your mistakes as part of your learning curve to success.

Everyone has different talents and will fail at certain things that others may find extremely easy, but that is OK, just make sure that you do not let your mistakes get your down.

I do realize that depending on the cost of the mistake, that can be easier said than done. Some people make mistakes work noting, like losing $1M, and others only $1, but each is a learning curve nevertheless.

Analyse your mistake, learn from it, and move on. Have you heard the phrase, every cloud has a silver lining. Well I have found that to the case so many times. So many times I have experienced the feeling of just not making it, then all of a sudden something really good happens and I am back on track with my business. Often doing better than before.

Sometimes we overlook our successes and focus on the failures. It is important not to let the negatives take over. Always remind yourself how good you are.

When I decided to start work at home some years ago, I tried a few different ideas. I made money at each, but I could see that my skills were not really in those businesses I was doing. It wasn't til I bought an internet business and started writing as a career that I really found something I loved. My failing there was not analyzing how good I was at what I was attempting to do, and sometimes even consciously ignoring the actual thing that eventually made me give up the business.

One of the most memorable was a party plan giftware business. I had to carry some heavy boxes, and I knew from the outset that my back was not that good, and in the end I had to stop because of it. I saw this as failure on my part to acknowledge the fact that I had a bad back. But not being able to do this took me one step closer to finding something I now like to do.

You may have to go through the process of elimination to find out really suits you, your circumstances and what you really like doing. When we have the idea for a small business we are so keen to start that we do not analyze the project properly at the beginning.
